About the Course

“Chemistry for All” aims to provide an overview of the fundamental concepts in chemistry without dwelling much into the complexities and technical details. The broad objective is to expose the relevance of chemistry and its critical impact on day-to-day activities for the non-science students. Thereby, students will be guided towards a general appreciation of the world of chemistry and its impact on life and society.  

Course Objectives/ Outcomes

1.    To gain exposure to the arrangement of elements in the periodic table, nature of chemical bonding leading to the formation of molecules.
2.    To understand the different states of matter and their transformations.  
3.    To appreciate the structure and function of basic biological molecules, drugs in few common diseases, chemicals in agriculture, common household products and those causing environmental pollution.
4.    To gain insights into nuclear fusion reactions, petroleum refining and sustainable energy production.
5.    To gain knowledge on the applications of chemistry in engineering, electronics and textiles.
