About the Course

This introductory course focuses on skilling the students on the elements of praxis through critically unpacking the concepts of community engagement focusing on vulnerable and marginalised communities in the global and local contexts. By the end of the course, the students would be acquainted with core values and principles of community engagement, associated processes and methods, and case studies across various sectors. They should be able to play a role in social transformation and ensure an equitable and sustainable society.

Course Objectives/ Outcomes

1.    Gain an understanding about the potential of praxis for social change
2.    Demonstrate a critical understanding of power, hierarchies that shape community engagement.  
3.    Understand the significance of processes for community engagement and critically reflect on challenges
4.    Describe the role of anthropology in community engagement  
5.    Identify opportunities to apply classroom learnings to engage in social change.
