The course on ‘Introduction to Governance’ offers a comprehensive foundation for understanding how contemporary societies are governed. It introduces the disciplinary evolution of studying ‘Governance’ by examining the dynamic roles of the state, market, civil society, and citizens. Accordingly, this course attempts to equip students with a critical lens to understand institutional interactions in policymaking. This course introduces the learners to the diverse forms of governance and engages with the normative frameworks of good governance, accountability, and transparency. In addition, learners are exposed to practical instruments of governance, such as the Right to Information, Social Audit, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Designed for students across academic disciplines, the course fosters analytical and civic competencies, enabling learners to critically engage with governance processes at the local and global levels.
